Should I put my Sugar Gliders in the same cage?

Question by ashleigh m: Should I put my Sugar Gliders in the same cage?
I have an 8 month old Sugar Glider and a 7 week old Sugar Glider. I have yet to put them in the same cage together, but I do put their cages 5 inches apart almost every night so that they can get used to seeing each other. It’s been two weeks since I got Mena, my 7 weeks old Glider. Every time Lutz, the 8 months old Glider, sees Mena he hisses at her if she stops what she’s doing to look at his and see what he’s doing. I’m afraid that if I put them in the same cage together then something will happen to one of them. What should I do?

Lutz hisses at Mena EVERY TIME she looks at him. :(

I suggest you bring them together gradually and feed them together to associate food and good things. If you want you can put the cages close to each other and see if they react, you can always add them together and then take them apart if anything goes wrong. So cute you get to keep these, I know a lot about them thought they are illegal in my state :(
Hope everything goes well.

We just bought two female sugar glider sisters and cannot tell which one is which. They both share the same ca?

Question by Avonlea: We just bought two female sugar glider sisters and cannot tell which one is which. They both share the same ca?
They both share the same cage. My sister has one and I have one. I would like to continue bonding to my sugar glider since we have made lots of progress today. We just bought her, but she seems very much bonded to me already, but I still need to continue and give time… Any ways, the sugar gliders are both sisters, and so they are going to share the same cage. What are some ways so I can tell whose is whose? Ours look almost exactly alike, it wouldn’t be possible to tell them apart really. Some advice please? Thanks.

Hamsters are solitary animals and would most likely fight the sugar glider. If you want the sugar glider, please do your research and find it a separate cage.

Can a sugar glider and a bird share the same cage?

Question by mrt3o3: Can a sugar glider and a bird share the same cage?
I heard that sugar gliders can get lonely and that it is better to have at least 2, but can they get along with a bird instead?

Answer by Happened2me
no. they are COMPLETELY different animals. they eat completely different things, if the sugar glider were to eat the bird food it could become seriously sick. and the same goes for the bird. They are also VERY VERY VERY likely to attack and possibly kill each other! It is true you should get at least 2 sugar gliders because they can become very depressed on their own, but I bird would be a terrible idea as a companion.

DO NOT TEST THIS BY PUTTING A SUGAR GLIDER AND A BIRD TOGETHER! THE RESULT WOULD NOT BE GOOD!

Can a southern flying squirrel and a sugar glider be able to live in the same cage?

Question by Andie-mae: Can a southern flying squirrel and a sugar glider be able to live in the same cage?
I have 2 sugar gliders right now a male and a female, and i am very interested in getting a southern flying squirrel. But i don’t have the room to have two cages in my room, so i was wondering if they would get along with the new squirrel in their cage?

This could be a bad idea since the gliders are so tiny and a squirrel is much bigger and the S will be a busy fellow all day while the tiny gliders will want peace and quite same goes for the squirrel he rests at night while the gliders rip at night. Plus the feeds may be totally different for both best to get a cage for the squirrel and let it have space to is self or try a stacking type cages for both types animals.I don’t believe they should go together in one cage may be asking for trouble the squirrel could kill them never know.

Two entirely different species. Dogs are carnivores, sugar gliders are mnarsupials. Both have different needs, have evolved differently, to eat different foods, etc.

Whilst they may suffer from some similar health problems, these two species cannot be compared in the same way.

#Was there a specific health porblem you had in mind?
